Halloween

As seen in our blog, there was Halloween everywhere in our classroom this past week. So much excitement happened as we counted down the days until Halloween.  First we created adorable ghosts with napkins-something you could easily do at home-for decorations in windows or on doors.

The group learned how pumpkins are planted and grow on vines obviously turning from green to yellow and finally to orange  Pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes, as we saw on pictures in a story.  So the teachers put patterns of all shapes of pumpkins out for tracing and cutting.  Some were oval, square or rectangular, while others were the traditional round.  Each child drew a face on his/her pumpkin, adding "freshly" cut leaves before planting a pumpkin in our pumpkin patch shown on the bulletin board.

Some friends here are putting together a puzzle of a skeleton which was a big hit.  Others are holding up masks to play a game which was also a favorite.  It goes with a song about a false face.  Your child can sing it for you.  The teachers had to guess who they were: the president, Miss Deb, our husbands, Mickey Mouse and more.  The class screamed with enthusiasm.

Let us not forget the letter box.  Martina presented the letter "F".  She is holding up a beautiful flower that her Mom let her borrow for this showing, and of course the letter box itself.  We will not do the letter "G" this coming week as we are moving right on to Election Day, Veterans Day and of course Thanksgiving.

The rest of the photos are of your children who are absolutely adorable in their costumes.  At the end of the year you will have a picture of your youngster dressed up for Halloween in his/her yearbook.  Ask your preschooler about safety tips for Halloween.  You will learn a lot.
